How to bathe a dog

The best shampoos are of no good if they are used incorrectly. Bathing a dog is not a science, but there are a few points you should keep in mind.

The shampoos and conditioners are highly concentrated, meaning they should be diluted with water before use. Depending on the condition of the coat in a ratio of 1 to 3 to 1 to 10. The easiest way to do this is with a so-called mixing bottle, which already has a corresponding scale.

For example, you fill 20 ml of shampoo into the bottle and then add 100 ml of water, this results in a mixture of 1 to 5. The more well-groomed and problem-free the coat, the higher the dosage you can use. If the hair is damaged or brittle, choose a ratio of 1 to 3. If the coat is of top quality, a ratio of 1 to 10 is usually sufficient.

The actual bathing! You have already prepared your shampoo and conditioner mixtures. Yes, always use a conditioner, regardless of whether it is a short or long-haired breed, because the conditioner has a moisturizing effect on the skin and hair.

Please wet the coat properly so that any coarse dirt is already removed. Now take the mixing bottle with the shampoo and apply it to the hair. We recommend starting with the front leg, with the bottle up, other front leg, over the back, then the back legs and finally the leftover shampoo on the chest.

Now don’t rub criss-cross with your hands, but massage gently from the back down. After about 2-3 minutes, rinse the coat well. Then apply the conditioner mixture in the same way and massage in. This time, let it settle for a few extra minutes to be effective. Rinse well again.

When drying, please do not rub with a towel, but gently squeeze the water out from top to bottom. Now dry the dog as usual with a hairdryer or blower.
