What exactly is a best before date, or BBE (best before end) for short?

The best before date, or expiration date, is the date until which a packaged food product can be stored and consumed while retaining its specific properties. The smell, taste, texture, nutritional value, colour, and consistency must remain unchanged until the best before date. If the correct storage conditions are observed, such as cool or dry storage, food products can often be stored and consumed even beyond this date.

Some of the pet care products we sell are marked with a best before date by the manufacturer. However, pet care products generally have a much longer shelf life, especially compared to food products. Therefore, we do sell products with an expired best before date, but at significantly reduced prices.

When you open the product, trust your senses. Is the packaging intact? Does it look the same as always? What is the consistency? Does it smell the same as usual? If so, you can use it without hesitation!

Generally, it should be noted that care products such as shampoos should ideally be used within 12 months of opening. Constant opening and closing of the product can allow germs to enter, which the preservatives may no longer be able to combat.

If you notice that the product smells less intensely than when you first opened it, this has nothing to do with its shelf life. Volatile fragrances simply evaporate over time, so the scent fades.
